Pastor Jerett Olson has served as Lead Pastor of New Hope Baptist Church in Dexter, Maine, since 2021. His heart is to faithfully preach and teach God’s Word, shepherd people with humility and love, equip believers to grow as disciples, and lead the church in sharing the gospel throughout Dexter and the surrounding communities.

Jerett has 18 years of ministry experience. Before coming to New Hope, he served as Associate Pastor at Berryessa Valley Church in San Jose, California, and as a youth and college ministry leader at Sunrise Community Church in Turlock, California.

 

He earned a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies from California State University, Stanislaus, and a master’s degree in Ministry and Leadership from Western Seminary. He was ordained by Berryessa Valley Church in 2018.
Jerett desires to help people experience the grace and truth of the gospel and become faithful followers of Jesus Christ who love God and love others.

 

Jerett and his wife, Annette, have been married for 21 years and have one son, Joshua. As a family, they enjoy hiking, exploring Maine, watching sports, reading, and serving together.
 

 

One of Jerett’s favorite passages is 1 Peter 3:15: “Always be prepared to answer everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.”

Anywhere along Maine’s beautiful coastline.

Paul in Athens in Acts 17:16–34 and the Parable of the Lost Son in Luke 15:11–32.

Which historical people would you most like to meet?
C. S. Lewis and George Washington.

What are your favorite movies?
Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and The Chronicles of Narnia.

What is one surprising fact about you?
I used to be a driving instructor, and I learned how to fence with swords in college.
